The purpose of this pilot study is to test a new mobile application known as Triggr, which is designed to support the recovery of adults receiving treatment for drug and alcohol use disorders. Treatment drop out can exceed 60% within three months following treatment entry; therefore, it is essential to develop effective treatments that will engage adults during treatment. The Triggr application was designed by Triggr Health, Inc. to be initiated during treatment and to continue to be available after treatment is over, providing an automated type of continuing care.
Currently Triggr is able to predict relapse 3 days before it occurs and can alert counselors so that they can intervene proactively. The application communicates with the counselor, the patient, and a peer group of other clients who have been linked through the application. Treatment staff are shown how to work with the application to support their patients and a remote support service is available through Triggr Health, Inc.
